1. Introduction

MasterYourExam (“we”, “us”) provides self-study exam-prep courses on our learning platform and operates the website at masteryourexam.ca. We protect personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law.

2. Information We Collect

Waitlists

When you join a waitlist, we receive your WhatsApp number, your name as shown on WhatsApp, and the exam you named. We use your message only to tell you when your course opens.

Enrolments

  • Your name and email address — your email address becomes your login on our learning platform;
  • Your WhatsApp number and your messages with us;
  • Payment details — Interac e-Transfer confirmation details (sender name, amount, date, and reference). We take payment by Interac e-Transfer only; we never collect card details.
  • Live help bookings — if you book live help on Zoom, the time you book and the topics you ask about;
  • Your course activity on the learning platform — for example, practice attempts and results — so we can deliver the course and show you your progress.

Website planner and WhatsApp buttons

The exam-date planner runs in your browser and stores nothing. If you choose to open WhatsApp from one of our website buttons, the prefilled message you send us contains your exam date and the options you picked, plus a fixed tag showing which button you used: [ref:planner] (exam-date planner), [ref:site-qr] (the WhatsApp QR code), [ref:sample-questions] (sample questions page). The tag identifies the button, not you.

3. How We Use It

  • Course delivery — to create your learner account, give you access for your access period, and show you your results;
  • Communication — to answer your questions, send your login details, and tell you when a waitlisted course opens;
  • Records — to keep the payment and tax records the law requires.
  • Protecting course content — our quiz pages show your name and a partly hidden version of your email address as a faint watermark, to discourage copying or sharing of course material. It is shown only to you, on your own screen, and is not stored or sent anywhere.

We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising.

4. Sharing & Service Providers

  • Amazon Web Services — hosts our learning platform in Canada (ca-central-1).
  • WhatsApp (Meta Platforms, Inc.) — our messaging with you takes place on WhatsApp, under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy. WhatsApp’s servers may be located outside Canada.
  • Zoom Communications, Inc. (formerly Zoom Video Communications, Inc.) — runs our live help sessions on Zoom. When you join a Zoom session, Zoom processes your display name, your audio and video, and connection details such as your IP address, under Zoom’s own privacy policy. Zoom is a United States company; this information may be processed outside Canada.
  • Cal.com, Inc. — will run our online booking page once online booking is enabled. If you book live help there, Cal.com processes the name, email address, and time you enter so we can confirm your booking. Cal.com is a United States company; this information may be processed outside Canada.
  • Email delivery — login and account emails from the learning platform are sent through an email delivery service, which processes your email address to deliver them.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. — delivers and protects our website; it processes visitors’ IP addresses and request details to do so.
  • Google LLC (Google Fonts) — our website and learning platform load typefaces from Google’s font servers, which receive your IP address and browser details to deliver them. Google’s servers may be located outside Canada.
  • HubSpot, Inc. — we use HubSpot as our customer relationship management (CRM) system to record and follow up on enquiries. When you message us on WhatsApp, our team may log your name, phone number, and a summary of your message in HubSpot so we can respond and keep track of your enquiry. HubSpot is a United States company; your information may be stored and processed on servers located in the United States, outside Canada, subject to U.S. law, including lawful access by its authorities. Where information is processed outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its authorities.

5. Storage & Security

Your learner account and course records are hosted on Amazon Web Services in Canada (ca-central-1). Access is limited to the people who need it to run your course. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure; we cannot promise absolute security, but we investigate and, where the law requires, report any incident that creates a real risk of significant harm.

6. Your Rights (PIPEDA)

  • Access — ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your learner account and data, subject to legal record-keeping requirements;
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits. Reply STOP on WhatsApp to leave a waitlist.

Message us on WhatsApp or email [email protected]. We handle every request by hand and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

7. Cookies

Our website uses only what it needs to work by default. The learning platform uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. With your consent, it also uses the analytics cookies described below to understand site traffic; it never uses advertising cookies and never tracks you across other websites.

When you arrive on our website from a link (for example, a social-media post), we store the short marketing-channel code from that link’s web address in your browser’s session storage (not a cookie — it is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab) so we can tell which channels bring visitors, and so that code can appear in the WhatsApp message you send us. This never includes your name, email address, or phone number.

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — only after you accept the cookie banner (or via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer), we use Google Analytics to understand site traffic, including which WhatsApp, phone, and email buttons are clicked. Google may process this data outside Canada. See Google's privacy policy.

You can accept or decline the optional cookies above at any time using the banner shown on your first visit, or reopen it later with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. Declining, or reopening “Cookie settings” and declining after previously accepting, removes these cookies from your browser.

8. Retention

  • Waitlist messages — kept for up to 12 months, or until the course opens and we have told you, whichever comes first; deleted earlier on request.
  • Learner accounts and course records — kept while your access is active and afterwards so you can buy a course again without losing your history; deleted on request.
  • Payment records — kept for up to 7 years, as Canadian tax rules require.
  • Google Analytics data — kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically by Google.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
